Tree plantation project to combat global warming: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23 (APP): Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan Monday said that global warming could only be prevented with planation of trees.
In a statement, he said that more than one billion trees would be planted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the end of 2018.
” PTI is investing in environment and people for the better future of coming generations”, he said.
Imran Khan said that about 10 to 12 forests of the size of Changa-Manga would be built in Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) government was preparing a special force with a help of locals for monitoring of tree planation drive and action against timber mafia.
Imran said that it was encouraging to see that locals were donating their lands for the plantation of trees.
“I can challenge any credible/independent organization to visit the
province to verify our claims of tree plantation figures”.
As part of the Billion Tree Plantation project and green growth initiative, the government aims to plant one billion trees, increase forest areas by 22 percent, conduct bi-annual plantation drives and double the size of national parks over a period of five years.
Imran Khan said that KPK government was growing jungles ten times to Changa Manga.
He stressed on the need of tree plantation in the KP and its positive
impact on the environment, adding tree plantation project was started to combat global warming.
He said that the survival rate of these trees is more than 75 percent.
