Training held to strengthen vaccine safety surveillance

ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP): A four-day training on Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) surveillance, VigiFlow and Vaccine-Preventable Disease (VPD) surveillance is being held at the Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI).
The training was arranged to strengthen surveillance and reporting capacities at district and facility levels.
The training, being conducted from October 6 to 9, is attended by EPI/Immunization and VPD Surveillance Focal Persons, who are participating in practical sessions on AEFI investigation and reporting, VigiFlow, Management Information System (MIS) and VPD case definitions.
The participants are also receiving training on laboratory methods for VPD surveillance and reviewing the current status of AEFI and VPD surveillance to identify gaps and develop practical measures for improvement.
On the second day, District Health Officer Islamabad Dr Syeda Rashida Batool shared her remarks and stressed the importance of strengthening surveillance and ensuring quality reporting at the district level.
The training aims to enhance participants’ technical and practical skills and improve timely detection, investigation and reporting of AEFI and vaccine-preventable diseases.
The initiative is expected to contribute to stronger immunization surveillance and improved vaccine safety monitoring across the country.
