Today’s Pakistan far better than yesterday: Rana Tanveer

LAHORE, Oct 16 (APP): Federal Minister for Defence Production and Science & Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain has said that today’s Pakistan is far better than the yesterday.
Addressing a seminar on “ National Action Plan, Collective responsibilities, Targets and Hurdles” organised by Pakistan
Journalist Foundation and World Columnists Club at a local hotel on Sunday, he said the incumbent government tackled all challenges with determination and vision.
He said the PML-N government had been facing three big challenges from the day first including terrorism, energy and economic crises which were inter-connected, adding the government worked successfully to resolve all these challenges.
The minister said that successful Karachi operation, improved situation of Balochistan, registration of madaris and accountability of NGOs are some steps taken by the government.
He said the government was very much focused on all important issues of people and the country besides the budgetary constraints.
He said that geographical situation of the country was very complicated and in such situation, success story of peace in the country was commendable.
The minister said that terrorism was a global issue and the United States, United Kingdom, Turkey and several other countries were facing it.
Special Assistant to the prime minister, Dr Musadik Malik said in his address that there was no room for disappointment regarding the implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) as a number of achievements could be mentioned in this regard.
“Everyone wants peace and prosperity in the country and disillusionment is enemy of progress,” he added.
He said the government was working on three points including fight against terrorism, containment of political forces and building of infrastructure.
“Infrastructure includes judicial, police and administrative reforms are under process and next year I shall be able to inform you about achievements in this sector,” he added.
“411 outlaws have been hanged during the one year, 2.2 million people are under investigation, 156,000 people have been detained after registration of different cases, 1811 terrorist were killed, 5600 terrorists were in jails, around 5000 people were arrested on the crime of hate speeches,” he added.
He said that 1.4 million Afghan refugees have been registered while 90,000 Afghan refugees have been deported on illegal activities.
“105 million mobile sims have been verified while 150,000 identity cards have been suspended during this period,” he added.
He said that success of the Pakistan Army was success of the government, adding that achievements of the army and the political leadership should be acknowledged.
He said that National Implementation Committee has been constituted to monitor the implementation on several actions.
Several intellectuals and journalists including, Mughees ud Din Sheikh, Saleem Bukhari, Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, Asif Ahmed Ali, General Ghulam Mustafa, Jibran Nasir and several others addressed the seminar.
