TIC restructured to improve compliance of UN conventions: Ausaf

ISLAMABAD, June 25 (APP): Attorney General for Pakistan Ashtar
Ausaf Ali has said that the Treaty Implementation Cell (TIC) was restructured as per the instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz
Sharif to improve compliance of the 27 UN conventions signed by Pakistan.

Ausaf, who is also Convener TIC, chaired the 11th meeting of the
TIC here on Friday, which was attended by officials from the federal ministries and provincial departments, International Labour Organization, and eminent human rights advocates I A Rehman and Peter Jacobs, a Ministry of Commerce statement said on Saturday.

The meeting decided to device an effective monitoring and reporting mechanism on the matters related to human, labour, children, minority rights, climate change, narcotics control and anti-corruption.

Ashtar Ausaf said the new TIC arrangement would help coordinate
with the departments concerned and agencies, which would provide a
platform to partner with international partners working in the areas of human and labour rights to bring more clarity and reality check for
efforts.

He said the European Union had lauded Pakistan’s efforts for
establishing the TIC and had decided to replicate the same in other
GSP+ beneficiary countries.
