MULTAN, Nov 21 (APP):Acting President Yusuf Raza Gilani has stressed the crucial role of textile industry in strengthening the national economy, stating that improving cotton production, seed quality, irrigation systems, and modern agricultural research is vital for boosting the sector.
He made these remarks during his visit to Mahmood Group of Textile Mills located in the Multan Industrial Estate on Friday.
The Acting President was received by the Group Chairman, Khawaja Muhammad Anees, who gave a comprehensive briefing on the mill’s operations. He highlighted the use of state-of-the-art machinery, advanced production processes, labour welfare programmes, and the group’s contribution to national exports through high-quality textile products meeting global standards.
Khawaja Muhammad Anees informed the Acting President that Mahmood Group was playing a significant role in the country’s exports by adopting modern technology and sustainable industrial practices. Matters related to cotton production and the broader agricultural sector was also discussed during the meeting.
Appreciating the group’s efforts, Acting President Gilani said that the government was committed to providing maximum support to industries and the business community. He acknowledged the pivotal role of the private sector in increasing exports, generating employment, and stabilizing Pakistan’s economy. He assured the group’s management of full cooperation from the government.
Senior administrative officers and industry representatives were also present during the visit.
