ISLAMABAD, Jul 03 (APP):Electricity supply to several areas of Rawalpindi, Jhelum and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was affected on Friday after a technical fault developed in a major auto transformer at the 500kV New Rawat Grid Station.
According to an Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) spokesperson, the fault occurred in the 750 MVA auto transformer installed at the 500kV New Rawat Grid Station, disrupting power supply to the 132kV grid stations at Old Rawat, Kahuta, Jhelum, Dina, Sohawa and Baragowah.
The spokesperson said the Regional Control Centre (RCC) immediately shifted the load of the affected grid stations to the Mangla Power House to restore electricity supply and stabilize the system.
However, to prevent overloading of the transmission network, temporary load management was being carried out in parts of Rawalpindi, Jhelum and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including areas served by the Old Rawat, Kahuta, Dina, Jhelum and Bara Gowa grid stations.
IESCO apologized to consumers for the inconvenience caused by the temporary load management.
