Tax net expanded to increase revenue: Zubair

ISLAMABAD, Jun 6 (APP): Minister of State for Privatization and Chairman Privatization Commission, Muhammad Zubair Monday said the federal government had broadened tax net as 60 percent tax collection increased this year.

Talking to a private news channel, he termed the fiscal budget 2016-17 as people-friendly budget and said, the government has provided relief to the masses by utilizing all available resources.

The minister said broadening the tax net is imperative to make
any budget a success as he claimed that fiscal deficit had reduced
from 8.5 to 4.3 percent and Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
increased this year, he added.

He said the government had announced massive relief for agriculture sector in the budget that would boost the national economy and ameliorate the lot of poor and small farmers in the country.

Muhammad Zubair said the huge amount has been proposed for
provinces in this budget to provide relief to the masses, and
urged the provincial governments to utilize given amount for
the development and welfare of masses.

He said the government has allocated hefty amount for development and power projects.
