Tariq expresses deep grief over PIMS fire incident
ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP):Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), saying the exact cause of the fire could not yet be determined.
Talking to the media, he said gas lines and plastic equipment contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
He said two doctors, nurses and other staff members were present at the time of the incident and remained safe.
“The incident is extremely unfortunate,” he said, adding that the crime scene was being examined to determine the actual cause of the fire.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that regardless of how the explosion occurred, the presence of oxygen supply caused the fire to intensify and spread rapidly.
He added that the Health Secretary was also present today and all relevant aspects of the incident were being examined.
