ISLAMABAD, Oct 03 (APP):Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday felicitated newly-elected office-bearers of Parliamentary Reporters Association(PRA).
The federal information minister congratulated MB Soomro on being elected as President, Usman Khan Kakar as Vice President, Naveed Akbar as Secretary, Aurangzeb Kakar as Joint Secretary, Javed Hussain as Information Secretary and Shakir Abbasi as Finance Secretary.
Attaullah Tarar also congratulated the newly elected members of the Governing Body of PRA.
The minister reiterated that the government fully believed in the fundamental, democratic, and constitutional right to expression.
A free, active and vibrant media was indispensable for the strengthening of democracy and promotion of democratic values, he remarked.
The minister maintained that success of the newly elected office bearers of the Parliamentary Reporters Association was a reflection of the confidence of the journalistic community.
The role of PRA in bringing the proceedings of Parliament to the public was commendable, Attaullah Tarar added.
He expressed the hope that newly elected office bearers of PRA are expected to uphold and promote the highest professional standards of journalism.
The minister hoped that the newly elected office bearers of PRA will continue their active role in protecting the rights of the journalist community.
