Talal sees Iran’s global economic reintegration as major boost for Pakistan’s energy, trade

ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (APP):Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Thursday expressed optimism that the lifting of sanctions on Iran and its reintegration into the global economy would create new opportunities for Pakistan in the energy, trade and other key sectors, with the benefits ultimately reaching the common people.
Talking to the media outside Parliament House, he said Iran was Pakistan’s neighbouring and brotherly Muslim country, enjoying decades-long cordial relations with Islamabad.
Talal said the recent diplomatic developments regarding Iran would not only promote peace and stability in the region but would also have positive implications for the global economy by reducing the risks of conflict and improving the international economic environment.
He urged all political parties to work collectively to translate Pakistan’s recent diplomatic achievements into tangible public welfare, ensuring that the dividends of these successes reached ordinary citizens.
Commenting on the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the minister said the federal government had implemented 37 of the 38 points agreed of the agreement previously signed. However, he regretted that unnecessary unrest had been created over the remaining point, alleging that certain elements were attempting to pursue vested interests under the guise of advocating Kashmiri rights. He said the role of such elements was being investigated.
He emphasized that all matters relating to Kashmir should be addressed through democratic and constitutional mechanisms.
