ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP):Acting Chairman Senate, Syedaal Khan Nasir on Wednesday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the fire incident at PIMS Hospital, describing it as extremely heartbreaking and tragic.
“The loss of precious lives of newborn babies is a national tragedy,” Syedaal Khan Nasir said. He said the pain of losing innocent lives was beyond words.
“We equally share the grief and anguish of the affected families,” he said. He expressed complete solidarity with the parents of the deceased children in this hour of grief.
He prayed for patience for the bereaved families. The Acting Chairman of the Senate said the safety of patients and newborns in hospitals should be the top priority.
He said there was an urgent need to bring safety systems at medical centres in line with modern requirements.
He called for regular reviews of safety systems to prevent fire incidents. “There is a need to take concrete measures to prevent such incidents,” he said.
