ISLAMABAD, Aug 09 (APP): Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar has termed the Makkah Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye an important and historic development for regional and global peace and stability.
He expressed these views during meetings with Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Religious Affairs Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan, parliamentarians, lawyers, intellectuals, representatives of civil society, members of the business community, chambers of commerce, and other prominent personalities.
During the meetings, the participants exchanged views on the country’s political and economic situation, law and order, national development, and important developments in the region.
Syedaal Khan Nasar said the agreement would not only promote defence cooperation among the three countries but also strengthen unity, mutual trust, and collective security in the Muslim world.
He said that, in the prevailing global environment, security challenges were no longer confined to any single country, making enhanced cooperation and mutual consultation the need of the hour.
The Deputy Chairman Senate said Pakistan was playing an active role in promoting peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.
He noted that, under the prudent strategy of the country’s political and military leadership, effective measures were being taken to combat terrorism and maintain peace and security across the country.
Syedaal Khan Nasar said the government was taking comprehensive measures for public welfare, economic stability, and national development.
He stressed that political stability, national unity, and collective efforts were essential to address the challenges confronting the country.
He said Pakistan was blessed with abundant natural resources and mineral wealth. The mineral resources available in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other parts of the country could be effectively harnessed through sound policymaking, investment, and modern technology to strengthen the national economy and improve the prosperity and well-being of the people.
Syedaal Khan Nasar emphasised that the time had come to rise above political differences and unite for the country’s development, prosperity, and stability.
He said that through collective efforts by the national leadership, political parties, business community, civil society, and other segments of society, Pakistan could overcome the challenges it faced and set the country firmly on the path of progress and prosperity.
