Supreme Court introduces flexible case fixation option for Quetta Registry filings

ISLAMABAD, Feb 28 (APP):The Supreme Court of Pakistan has introduced a flexible case fixation mechanism for matters filed at its Quetta Branch Registry, allowing litigants and members of the Bar to choose, at the time of filing, whether their cases should be heard at the Quetta Registry or at the Principal Seat in Islamabad.
The facilitative measure is aimed at minimizing inconvenience to litigants and ensuring timely adjudication of cases. Under the new arrangement, parties filing cases at the Quetta Registry will have the option to specify their preferred place of hearing, providing greater clarity and predictability at the initial stage of filing.
The initiative follows concerns raised by members of the Bar in Quetta regarding comparatively fewer sittings of regular Benches at the Branch Registry due to lower case pendency.
Lawyers had pointed out that this often resulted in delays and inconvenience for litigants seeking early hearings.
By enabling parties to opt for fixation at the Principal Seat in Islamabad, the Court seeks to streamline scheduling and enhance access to justice for litigants from Balochistan.
The move reflects the Supreme Court’s continued commitment to responsive and citizen-centric judicial administration, ensuring timely, efficient, and flexible access to hearings for lawyers and litigants alike.
