CHITRAL, July 26 (APP): Another micro hydro power house of 150 KV was completed by Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) at Shahidas Shandor in upper Chitral.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) Pakistan Army Malakand 17 Division Major General Asif Ghaffor was chief guest on the occasion who inaugurated the newly completed hydro power house.
Addressing the inaugural function District Program Manager of SRSP Tariq Ahmad said SRSP was working on power generation in Chitral and at present some 25 hydro power houses were under completion in different remote valleys of Chitral where there was no electricity from national grid.
He said this power house was having the capacity of 150 KV and its beneficiaries were 384 (consumers). The project was completed with a total cost of some 29 million with 0.8 million of community share which also provided free of cost land for this purposes.
The power house has 2 water tankers with 2800 feet long water channel and according to local people it would bring a positive change in the lives of local people.
Maj Gen Asif Ghaffor in his address, highly hailed the efforts of SRSP which provided electricity in remote areas of Malakand Division. He announced construction of a belly bridge on river that would end suspension of traffic to this remote valley. He also assured of establishment of handicraft center for women.
Later, he unveiled the plaque of power house and formally inaugurated it by cutting the ribbon. Commandant Chitral Scouts Col Nizamuddin Shah, Assistant Commissioner Mastuj Abdul Hameed Khattak, AAC Muhammad Saleh civil and military officers and Nazims, councilors, including women folk of the area were also present on the occasion.
The local people presented a cultural show in response of inauguration of power house which enthralled the guests.
