ISLAMABAD, Oct 2 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Sunday said that the sports must not be made a victim of politics and if some negative forces imperil world peace, the people should forcefully rectify them.

The president said this in his address at the prize distribution ceremony of 32nd President Gold Medal Golf Championship 2016 arranged by Islamabad Club here.

He said the sports ensure the human growth, not only
mentally and physically but also become a reason to improve their personality morally as well as spiritually.

The president said only the nations get success politically, economically as well as in other fields which excel in the sports sector.

He believed that the sports do not only revolutionize
the nations internally rather these activities also played a due role to bring in peace and stability. Promotion of friendly ties among the nations is also an added feature of the sports, he added.

President Mamnoon said Pakistani sportsmen had enriched
the country’s image internationally; however the output of this sector was not up to the mark.

He stressed the need for promotion of sports at institutional level keeping in view the changing standards of the sports and adopting the latest techniques in vogue. We will have to do this all as a missionary goal, he added.

President Mamnoon was of the view that by regaining the
grandeur in sports, Pakistan could not only enrich its image but also address the discontent and desperation among youth to eliminate the extremism effectively.

He lauded the efforts of Islamabad Club for promotion of
golf in the country and felicitated the prize winners of the championship.

He said the runner up players should strive more to achieve the distinction by next year.

He hoped that Pakistan’s golfers would set new records
of successes in future.
