ISLAMABAD, Jul 21 (APP):A special court on Monday rejected the post-arrest bail petition of Pakistan Agriculture and Research Council (PARC)’s Chairman Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali in a case against alleged illegal recruitments in the department.
Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand rejected the post-arrest bail after hearing the arguments.
During the hearing, the petitioner, lawyer Riasat Ali Azad, appeared in the court and took the position that the matter was of 2022 while the FIR was filed in 2025. There is an allegation of recruiting 168 employees without advertisement and use of official position.
He said that after three years, an FIR was registered against Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali and other accused. Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali is the Chairman of PARC, there is no complaint against him in his entire career, he said. He was first pressured to resign, when he did not agree, an FIR was registered, all the affairs of PARC are looked after by the Board of Governors, not a single paper related to corruption could be brought on record by the prosecution, the lawyer said.
The FIA investigation officer said that 164 posts were advertised and 332 people were recruited.
Petitioner lawyer said that the chairman is not a member of the PARC selection committee. If a candidate is a relative of the chairman, so he become ineligible to te recruitment, he questioned. The lawyer said that his client has no direct connection with the recruitment. He prayed the court to grant his client post-arrest bail.
The FIA prosecutor said that an FIR was registered on the direction of the PAC. After the arguments of the parties were completed, the court reserved the decision and later rejected the bail petition of the accused.
