ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan on Monday welcomed a South Asian Games delegation led by President Pakistan Olympic Association and South Asia Olympic Council Arif Saeed at the Prime Minister’s Office and announced that the 14th South Asian Games would be held in Pakistan from April 3 to 11, 2027, featuring 346 medal events in 28 sports across Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar with the participation of around 3,200 athletes.
Mr Khan said the regional event would provide young athletes with a valuable platform to showcase their talent and compete at the highest level.

“The South Asian Games offer young players an excellent opportunity to present their abilities before the world,” he said.
Mr Khan said the government is taking comprehensive measures to promote sports and youth development, adding that the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is committed to empowering young people through sports, skills development and other opportunities.
He stressed that creating more opportunities for young athletes at national, regional and international levels remained a key priority.
Pakistan Olympic Association President and South Asia Olympic Council President Arif Saeed said young athletes must be provided with greater opportunities to excel and represent the country on regional and global platforms.
Mr Khan said the South Asian Games would also strengthen friendship, cooperation and sporting ties among South Asian nations while highlighting Pakistan’s growing role in regional sports.
