ISLAMABAD, Mar 6 (APP):Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Makhdoom Khusro Bukhtiar Wednesday said Pakistan and China has established a Socio Economic Development Joint Working Group to ensure implementation of ongoing projects.
Replying to the question of Senator Atta-ur-Rehman during question hour in Senate, he said the group has been tasked to ensure implementation status of various projects being continued in agriculture, education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, water supply management and vocational training sectors. He said Pakistan and China has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in November last on cooperation in poverty reduction and social development. The MoU envisages cooperation in knowledge sharing and experience exchanges, cooperation in research, capacity building of government officials and poverty reduction practitioners, launching of communitybased development pilot projects in less developed areas and agricultural industrialization led poverty reduction pilot projects in underdeveloped agricultural area. The water storage capacity of Pakistan is being enhanced from 30 days to 41 days. It has been decided to allocate at least 10 percent of total development budget on constructing water storages.
