ISLAMABAD, Sep 24 (APP):Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous
Ashiq Awan on Tuesday said that social media could be used as an effective tool to promote moderate and enlightened image of Pakistan and counter negative perceptions about the country.
Speaking as chief guest at the closing ceremony of digital media workshop,jointly organized by Facebook and National Information Technology Board (NITB), she said that there were 41 million users of Facebook in the country.
She said that “the government wants to make the social media more vibrant and empower it so that we could counter hybrid wars, being fought on the
social media.”
