ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (APP):SK Hydro (Private) Limited, in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, organized a free medical camp near the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project site to provide essential healthcare services to residents of nearby communities.
The medical initiative, held on Thursday, drew widespread appreciation from local residents who have long faced challenges in accessing medical facilities due to difficult terrain and long travel distances, said a press release.
Two experienced medical officers from the Pakistan Army provided consultations for over 200 patients, addressing common seasonal and chronic ailments such as influenza, eye infections, joint pain, hypertension, and chronic gastritis. Free medicines — including Amoxicillin, Azithromycin, Cephalosporin antibiotics, and eye drops — were distributed among patients.
This robust support in both personnel and material solidified the foundation for the service, ensuring that the benefits of the event tangibly reached the local population.
In addition to treatment, the medical officers also offered health awareness sessions, guiding residents on proper medication use, hygiene, and disease prevention to promote healthy living habits and improve public health awareness in the region.
The initiative was jointly facilitated by SK Hydro (Private) Limited and the Pakistan Army unit stationed at the project site, with SK Hydro procuring more than 100 types of essential medicines to support the campaign.
According to the activity arrangement, the initiative will reach other surrounding communities in the future.
Funded, constructed, and operated by China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project has been actively integrating corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives under its “Dreams Becoming Reality” campaign launched in 2024.
Through this program, the company has supported local education by funding outstanding students, built a government service center in the Kaghan region, and contributed USD 20,000 to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.
The recent free medical service not only exemplifies Suki Kinari Hydropower Project’s concrete efforts to strengthen partnerships with local communities and authorities, but also stands as a vivid reflection of the “iron-clad friendship” between China and Pakistan.
