ISLAMABAD, Oct 17 (APP): The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Monday recommended to regularise services of four additional judges of Lahore High Court (LHC) and three of Peshawar High Court (PHC).

The SJC also recommend to appoint one additional judge for Balochistan High Court (BHC).

The SJC met here under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali. Senior judges of Supreme Court, chief justices of LHC, PHC, and BHC, Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid and other members of the Council attended the meeting.

The LHC additional judges whose names were recommended for regularisation include Justice Khalid Mahmood, Justice Mushtaq Ahmad, Justice Masood Abid and Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal while PHC judges are Justice Muhammad Yaqoob Taheem, Justice Muhammad Ghazanfar and Justice Qalandar Khan.

The Council recommended the name of Nazeer Lagoo as Additional Judge of BHC.

The SJC chairman and members deliberated upon the list of nominees against the vacancies initiated by LHC Chief Justice for elevation as additional judges in that court.

They observed that in order to select the best out of best persons, some additional names should be added to the list of nominations already initiated by LHC Chief Justice. The matter was, therefore, adjourned for November 3 to consider fresh nominations as well as the list of nominees already submitted by the LHC Chief Justice.
