ISLAMABAD, Sep 6 (APP):Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi Thursday directed the Islamabad district administration to ensure law and order and security during the month of Muharram.He was chairing a meeting attended by officials of district administration, police and religious scholars from all walks of life.
The minister said Madaris (seminaries) were playing an important role in the society. Religious tolerance was important for maintaining law and order in the country, he added.
The Chief Commissioner and Inspector General of Police Islamabad informed the minister about the security steps taken for Muharram.
The minister said religious scholars should play their role to promote national and social harmony. He instructed the officers of district administration to keep in contact with Ulema and also remain in touch with home ministries of the provinces.
