Shaza Fatima attends ACT AI graduation ceremony
ISLAMABAD, Jul 29 (APP):Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Wednesday visited the headquarters of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and attended the graduation ceremony of ACT AI, Pakistan’s largest Artificial Intelligence training initiative.
The programme is being implemented under the HEC in collaboration with AI SkillBridge.
Project Director Rana Jaleed Ahmed briefed the Federal Minister and informed her that more than 82,000 students from across the country had applied for the programme.
Following a rigorous nationwide proctored examination, 6,000 students from 100 universities were selected.
The initiative is the first of its kind in Pakistan, with the HEC’s Smart Classroom Network being used simultaneously across the country to deliver AI training.
The programme is fully aligned with the National AI Policy 2025 and represents the first practical step towards the Prime Minister’s vision of training one million students in Artificial Intelligence by 2030.
Federal Minister interacted live with students from various universities. During the session, students demonstrated projects they had developed during the training, including working applications, websites, and AI agents.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja expressed satisfaction after reviewing the students’ projects.
Addressing the graduates, she said the programme had provided young people with an opportunity to become valuable assets to the nation.
She urged them not only to strengthen their expertise in Artificial Intelligence but also to use their skills in the service of Pakistan.
She said the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication stood with the country’s youth at every step, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was personally committed to making Pakistan AI-ready.
ACT AI was organised by AI SkillBridge in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), and the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Graduating students were awarded jointly endorsed certificates by all four partner organisations, while the 600 top-performing students from both batches will also receive scholarships for advanced training in Artificial Intelligence.
