ISLAMABAD, Nov 03 (APP): Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood on Wednesday hailed the World Bank for selecting Pakistan for its Accelerator Country Program.

During a meeting with a delegation of World Bank, he said, “We are happy to be a part of the Accelerator Country Program so that Pakistan can play a role model for other countries.”

The progress of ongoing projects between the Ministry of Education and the World Bank was also discussed in detail.

Shafqat Mahmood also thanked the World Bank for its multifaceted cooperation in the field of education.

He said that during the Covid-19 epidemic, the Federal Ministry of Education played a leading role for all the provinces, ensuring effective linkages between the provinces despite the 18th Amendment.

He said that due to the epidemic, there were many challenges in which the decision to take examinations was at the forefront but taking all the provinces together to make decisions by consensus was a great achievement of the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference.

The Federal Minister apprised of the steps taken by the ministry to keep the students connected with education during the epidemic, i.e tele-schools, radio schools, distance education programs and elimination of digital divide.

The World Bank delegation appreciated the timely steps taken by the Federal Ministry of Education during the Covid-19 epidemic and commended the efforts of Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood on effective coordination with the provinces.

During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue cooperation and further expand the scope of cooperation for the education sector.
