ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (APP):Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid Tuesday urged the nation to unite against all forms of violence, calling it a grave violation of human rights and a barrier to national progress.
In her message on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Senator Rubina Khalid said that creating a violence-free society is a shared responsibility, stressing that true development cannot be achieved without empowering women socially, economically, and politically.
She reiterated BISP’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding women’s rights and expanding initiatives aimed at their protection and empowerment.
She emphasized that every act of violence against women is unacceptable and that perpetrators must face strict punishment.
Ensuring women’s education, employment opportunities, and safety, she added, remains a top priority of the government.
Senator Khalid noted that policies are being strengthened to ensure the protection of women’s fundamental rights and to provide them with an environment free from fear and discrimination.
Calling it a moral and social duty to raise voices against violence, she announced that support services and legal assistance for victims will be expanded so they can access justice without barriers.
She also highlighted that the active participation of men is essential for eliminating gender-based violence and building inclusive communities.
Senator Rubina Khalid reaffirmed her resolve to work toward a Pakistan where every woman can live with dignity, freedom and security.
