Senate unanimously adopts resolution over demise of Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (APP): The Senate here on Wednesday unanimously adopted a condolence resolution over the sad demise of Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui, paying rich tribute to his distinguished services as a legislator, columnist, and scholar.
Leader of the House Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar moved the resolution, expressing grief on behalf of the entire House.
The resolution described Senator Siddiqui as one of the distinguished members of the Senate of Pakistan, who passed away on November 10, 2025.
It noted that Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui was a prominent columnist and author of many books, including “PTI and Pakistan: From Cipher to Final Call” and “Qalam ko Hathkari.”
His political career, the resolution added, was deeply intertwined with the Pakistan Muslim League (N), where he served as a key intellectual and Special Advisor on National Affairs to the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Senator Siddiqui represented Punjab Province in the Senate from March 2021 until his passing.
He held important parliamentary positions, including Parliamentary Leader of PML-N in the Senate, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training.
In recognition of his distinguished services in the fields of journalism, literature, and public service, he was conferred the civil award Hilal-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan in 2014.
“The services rendered by Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui will be long remembered. His loss will be deeply mourned by his family, friends and party. This House expresses its deepest sympathies with the bereaved family and prays to Almighty Allah to shower His infinite blessings upon the departed soul and grant him eternal peace. Ameen,” the resolution stated.
The House also asked for sending a copy of the resolution to the bereaved family of Senator Siddiqui.
