Senate special committee on CPEC held

ISLAMABAD, Apr 17 (APP):The Senate Special Committee on the project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Wednesday postponed the discussion on scheduled agenda of the meeting.

The Chairman Board of Revenue Haroon Sharif, who is also minister of state for investment, and Secretary Planning Zafar Hassan were present to elaborate the points before the committee but it decided to postpone the meeting without taking any agenda item.

The committee took note of the non-presence of Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar and directed that the minister should be present in the next meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Senator Sherry Rehman and was attended by its members Senators Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Dr Asad Ashraf, Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Atta ur Rehman, and Muhammad Javed Abbasi.

On the occasion, Zafar Hassan said that the minister could not attend the Senate meeting as he was engaged in another meeting of Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC).

Sherry Rehman however said this meeting was also equally important so he should have ensured his presence in the meeting.
