Senate secretariat to launch mobile app for senators to promote digital governance

ISLAMABAD, Jun 17 (APP):As a significant step towards institutional innovation and the promotion of digital governance, the Senate Secretariat, under the leadership of Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has decided to introduce a comprehensive mobile application for senators, marking an important milestone in its agenda of leveraging technology for improved efficiency and service delivery.
The initiative reflects Chairman Senate’s vision of a technologically empowered, efficient, and environmentally responsible parliamentary institution.
The mobile application has been developed utilizing indigenous resources and the professional expertise available within the Senate Secretariat, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to innovation, self-reliance, and prudent utilization of public resources.
The progress on the application was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Chairman Senate Senator Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at Parliament House.
Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider briefed the Chairman Senate and committee members on the development of the application, its key functionalities, and the benefits it will bring to parliamentary operations.
The Chairman Senate emphasized that the initiative is aligned with the broader objective of promoting the e-Office concept within the Senate Secretariat.
He added that digitalization is essential for improving efficiency, reducing paperwork, enhancing institutional transparency, and ensuring timely access to information.
He further stated that the transition towards digital systems would contribute significantly to environmental sustainability by reducing paper consumption and minimizing administrative delays. Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider informed the meeting that the user-friendly application has been designed to provide Senators with secure and convenient access to parliamentary business and official information through their mobile devices.
The application incorporates several innovative and unique features aimed at enhancing communication, accessibility, and workflow management for Members of the Upper House.
The application is expected to facilitate real-time access to Senate proceedings, legislative business, committee information, official notifications, parliamentary documents, schedules, and other essential resources.
The digital platform has been developed with a strong focus on ease of use, security, and accessibility to ensure a seamless experience for Members.
The Chairman Senate appreciated the efforts of the Senate Secretariat officers and technical team involved in the development of the application and termed the initiative a major advancement towards a digitally empowered Senate.
He observed that the adoption of modern technological solutions would save valuable time and resources while strengthening institutional effectiveness and service delivery.
The meeting was informed that the formal launch of the Senate Mobile Application will be held in the near future.
Following its inauguration, a comprehensive orientation session will be organized for Members of the Senate to familiarize them with the application’s features and functionalities and to ensure its effective utilization.
The Chairman Senate reaffirmed his commitment to introducing modern governance practices within the parliamentary framework and stated that the Senate Secretariat would continue to embrace innovation, technology, and sustainable administrative practices to meet the evolving requirements of a modern legislature.
The meeting was attended by Senators Nasir Mehmood Butt, Aamir Waliuddin Chishti, Senator Abdul Qadir and Samina Mumtaz Zehri besides senior officers of the Senate Secretariat.
