ISLAMABAD, Dec 05 (APP): The Senate on Friday passed the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority Bill 2025, clearing the path for the creation of a new regulatory body tasked with overseeing food safety and modernizing Pakistan’s agricultural trade framework.
Moved by Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar, the bill was accompanied by assurances to the House that no employee would lose their job under the new law, with any affected staff to be placed in the surplus pool.
The newly passed law aims to tighten standards for agricultural trade and food safety in Pakistan, bringing them in line with international norms and strengthening the country’s push to expand its export market.
