Senate offers Fateha for martyrs of Islamabad suicide blast

ISLAMABAD, Feb 09 (APP): The Senate on Monday offered Fateha for the martyrs of the suicide blast that occurred during Friday prayers at Imambargah Khadija-tul-Kubra in Islamabad.

On the request of Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Nasir, Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman led the House in prayers for the departed souls and for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Members of the Upper House expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and prayed for peace and security in the country.

Meanwhile, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry informed the House that 33 people were martyred and over 150 others injured in the tragic incident, terming it a major national tragedy.

Following the tragic loss of lives in the Islamabad blast, the Upper House, through a majority decision, suspended the remaining business of the Senate session and adopted a resolution to hold discussion exclusively on the martyrdoms and the Islamabad suicide attack.
