Senate joint body briefed on Armed Forces’ preparedness to tackle Indian aggression

ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP): Defence authorities Thursday gave a  detailed in-camera briefing to a joint sitting of Senate Standing  Committees on Defence and Foreign Affairs on preparedness of Armed  Forces to tackle Indian aggression in a befitting manner.

Briefing media after in-camera meeting along with Secretary
Defence Lt Gen (Retd) Zameer Ul Hassan Shah, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Defence Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the body was informed  that India committed 58 ceasefire violations so far at the Line  of Control (LoC) after the Uri incident on September 18.

During a period of one year, India committed 103 ceasefire
violations, while Afghanistan breached the Pak-Afghan border sanctity  203 times, he added.

Commenting on Indian aggression, Mushahid Hussain Sayed said  India had moved a squadron of Su-30 MKi and an Army Division to the  advanced positions.

He said Pakistan Armed Forces were on high alert and fully
prepared to give a befitting response to Indian aggression and misadventure. “Our Army and Air Force are in a state of high alert.

They are in the state of readiness.”

The chairman said the defence authorities had apprised the
meeting that Indian claim of surgical strikes in Pakistani territory were fabricated, adding surgical strike had two technical aspects  i.e. physically entering other country’s area and launching a physical attack.

He said India’s claim of surgical strikes had already been
rejected by the United Nations Military Observers Group, which is  present on both sides of the LoC and international dailies including  the Washington Post and New York Times.

He said representatives of the UN Group had denied witnessing  any sign of the surgical strike, which Indian Prime Minister Modi had claimed to cover up his mistakes and his army’s weaknesses.

Mushahid said the Indian Prime Minister did face diplomatic
disaster in recent BRICS Summit where he attempted to link Pakistan  with ‘terrorism’.

He said China and Russia played a key role in foiling nefarious
designs of Indian PM Modi, who wanted Pakistan bashing in the summit.

The chairman said the joint meeting had also passed a resolution condemning Indian PM’s recent statement, in which he attempted to link Pakistan with ‘terrorism’ and misled international community by mixing  up Kashmir issue with Palestine, where Israel was used to launch  surgical strikes.

He said the resolution of the Committee warned that any Indian  attempt to launch surgical strike in any part of Azad Jammu and  Kashmir, would be the sheer violation of Charter of United Nations.

He said India would not succeed in diverting attention of the
international community from human rights violations, being committed by its brutal forces in Occupied Kashmir.

Mushahid said the resolution endorsed the view point of China and Russia at the BRICS summit, and expresssed the resolve that  people of Pakistan and its Armed Forces were fully prepared to give  a befitting response to any Indian aggression.

He said the meeting was also informed that 79 Wings of the
FC were being raised for effective management of the Pakistan- Afghanistan border.

He said there were 16 notified crossing points, out of the
total 78, all along Pak-Afghan border including Chaman, Torkham,  Angur Ada and Ghulam Khan.

The chairman said 75 percent temporary displaced persons
of Federally Administered Tribal Areas, numbering almost 1.5
million, had so far been rehabilitated.

Earlier, the joint meeting took up a public petition of
Subhanuddin, pertaining to medical treatment of his son injured  in Army Public School Attack in 2015.

The defence authorities informed that a summary was being
prepared to get approval by the Prime Minister as around 25,000 Euros were needed for treatment of injured student in Germany, besides expenses of two persons airfare and four-month stay  there.

Mushahid directed the authorities to expedite the process
of getting the approval and asked two members of body, Lt Gen  (Retd) Salahuddin Tirmizi and Muhammad Javed Abbasi, to pursue  the summary.
