ISLAMABAD, Jun 16 (APP):The Senate on Monday extended the time for presentation of a report by the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges on a privilege motion filed against an official of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.
Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi, Chairman of the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges, moved the motion under Rule 194(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012, seeking a 60-day extension with effect from June 17, 2025.
The motion relates to a privilege issue raised by Senators Palwasha Mohammed Zai Khan, Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan, Saifullah Sarwar Khan Nyazee, Nadeem Ahmed Bhutto, Mohammad Humayun Mohmand and Anusha Rahman Ahmad Khan against the Deputy Secretary (Council), Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication for allegedly misleading the committee.
Meanwhile, Senator Mohsin Aziz, on behalf of Senator Umer Farooq, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Petroleum, presented the committee’s report on a point of public importance raised by Senator Kamil Ali Agha on March 11, 2025, regarding unannounced Sui gas load shedding in Lahore.
The report contains findings and recommendations to address the issue of gas supply disruptions in the city.
