ISLAMABAD, Mar 25 (APP):Australian High Commissioner Margaret Adamson on Monday called on Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla here at the Parliament House and exchanged views on trade, investment, human rights and other issues of mutual interest. Atrocities in the Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK) and cross-border situation between Pakistan and India also came under discussion.
Margaret Adamson expressed her deepest regrets over the loss of lives in the terrorist attack in Christchurch. She said New Zealand was a peaceful country that respected all ethnic and religious groups.
Saleem Mandviwalla, while discussing trade and investment opportunities with Australia, viewed that efforts from both sides should be made to enhance bilateral trade. Notes were exchanged on how business links between Pakistan and Australia could be promoted.
He assured the high commissioner that he would ensure that Australian businesses were facilitated in Pakistan. He regretted the fact that despite fertile ground for growth Pakistan failed to attract businessmen.
Margaret Adamson said she looked forward to develop stronger links between the two countries. She showed keen interest in enhancing parliamentary exchanges between Pakistan and Australia and extended an invitation to the Parliamentary Friendship Group to visit the High Commission on April 3.
Saleem Mandviwalla, while endorsing the need to strengthen such exchanges between the two countries, stressed the need for establishing a similar group on the Australian side as well.
Senators Pervaiz Rashid and Manzoor Ahmed Kakar attended the meeting as well.
