Senate Body seeks report about law reforms in country

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22 (APP):Special Committee on Law Reforms has decided to write letter to the Ministry of Law and Justice seeking report on the work carried out with regard to law reforms in the country within seven days.

The decision was made in the meeting of the Special Committee on Law Reforms held on Tuesday at Parliament House. Convener of the Committee Senator Farooq H.Naek presided over the meeting
which was attended among others by Senators Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Muhammad Azam Khan Sawati, former Senator Ch Muhammad Anwer Bhinder, Raja Inam Amin Minhas and Justice(R) Muhammad Raza Khan.
The Special Committee also decided to ask the Ministry of Law and Justice to send a concerned officer to brief the committee about law reforms in its next meeting.

The Committee approved its Terms of Reference (ToR) and decided to hold its formal meeting in first week of February. The committee approved the agenda items to be taken up in its next meeting including considering the tiers of court system of Pakistan and abolishing of the Special Courts and merging them in ordinary courts.

The committee deiced to also write letters to other relevant departments and organizations regarding law reforms including Pakistan Bar Council and Provincial Bar Councils, Law and Justice Commission, National Commission for Women Rights, National Commission of Child Abuse and National Commission for Human Rights.
