Senate body for providing health facilities in FATA, Balochistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP):The Senate Standing Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas on Monday recommended that health sector should be given priority in Fata and Balochistan.

The Committee which met here at Parliament House with Senator Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar in the Chair, said that various diseases are spreading in Balochistan and Fata due to shortage of health facilities. The Committee said that concerned departments should focus the welfare of the people in areas. It further recommended that concerned authorities should initiate campaign to create awareness regarding diseases in various areas of Fata and Balochistan.
The Chairman of the Committee said that more facilities should be provided to people in hospitals. The Committee expressed concerns over the reports regarding spread of Congo virus in Balochistan. The Committee also recommended that national level survey should be conducted regarding spread diseases in Fata and Balochistan. It also recommended that strict action should be taken against officials with poor performance or creating hurdles in implementation of developments projects. The Committee also recommended PMDC to restore 192 medical scholarships quota for students of Balochistan and Fata.
The meeting was attended by Senators Mir Hasil Bezinjo, Molvi Faiz Muhammad, Gianchand, Haji Momin Khan Afridi, Nigat Mirza, Kalsoom Parveen and senior officials of Ministry of National Health, NIH, PMDC and others.
