ISLAMABAD, Jan 2 (APP):Senate Standing Committee on Pakistan Railways Tuesday recommended construction of boundary wall around Railways land in Balochistan province.
The committee was headed by Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassani and attended by its members Parvez Rashid, Javed Abbasi, Hafiz Hamdullah, Zafarullah Dhandla, Nasreen Jalil, Samina Saeed, Zahida Khan and others including Secretary Railways Parveen Agha, Secretary Finance Shahid Mahmood, senior officials of Punjab and Balochistan provinces held here in the Parliament House.
The committee discussed in details the issues related to Railways land under illegal occupation across the country in the light of Supreme Court decision and steps taken by the provincial governments for its vacation.
The senior officials of ministry of finance briefed the committee on the issue of outstanding dues of Railways land transferred to the PTCL in Chaman.
The progress report by the Board of Revenue Punjab with regard to land occupied by the Shalimar Hospital and land transferred to DHA, Bahawalpur was also discussed in the meeting.
The committee chairman said the Supreme Court decision would be implemented across the board.
The committee directed Pakistan Railways and Punjab government to resolve issues with mutual understanding. The committee also expressed displeasure over the absence of senior federal and provincial government officials in the meeting.
