ISLAMABAD, Dec 15 (APP): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has suspended the election tribunal’s decision ordering re-polling at 22 polling stations in National Assembly constituency NA-251, Sherani cum Zob cum Qila Saif Ullah.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shehzad Ahmad Khan heard the case on Monday. During the proceedings, the court was informed that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) candidate Syed Samiullah had won the general elections from NA-251.
The election tribunal had ordered re-polling at 22 polling stations on the grounds that Form-45 was missing from those stations. The tribunal’s decision was challenged before the Supreme Court.
Issuing a stay order against the re-polling, the Supreme Court suspended the election tribunal’s ruling and adjourned further hearing of the case until the winter vacations of the Supreme Court are over.
During the hearing, Advocate Kamran Murtaza appeared before the court on behalf of JUI candidate Syed Samiullah.
