ISLAMABAD, Jan 17 (APP):The Supreme Court Wednesday summoned the Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) and Advocate-General (AG) Sindh in Perveen Rehman’s murder case.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmad also expressed annoyance over the performance of Sindh police in investigating the murder case while hearing a petition filed by Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) and others.
Raheel Kamran, counsel for the petitioners, apprised the court that the police officers were not properly investigating the case.
The investigation officer apprised the court that five suspects had been arrested, one of them also confessed before the police of his involvement in the murder, but he latter backed off before the court.
The court observed that the Sindh police were not properly investigating the case which showed their incompetency. The police officers investigating the case should be trialled for their delinquency, he added.
The investigation officer apprised the court that the delinquent police officers of Sindh had been interrogated by a joint investigation committee headed by a federal agency officer.
Upon this, the court summoned the AGP and AG Sindh to apprise it of the reasons for poor investigation and adjourned the case for two weeks.
