ISLAMABAD, Jul 24 (APP):The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that all cases relating to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would henceforth be heard by the Federal Constitutional Court following amendments to the NAB law.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar announced the short order in open court.
The judgment stated that after the amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance, the Supreme Court no longer had jurisdiction to hear NAB-related cases and that all such matters stood transferred to the Federal Constitutional Court.
The court held that under Article 175 of the Constitution and Sections 32 and 32A of the National Accountability Ordinance, the Federal Constitutional Court was the competent forum to hear all NAB-related cases.
The Supreme Court upheld the stance of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the federal government, declaring that the petitions fell within the jurisdiction of the Federal Constitutional Court.
The court had reserved its verdict on July 16 after hearing detailed arguments from all parties and announced the decision on Friday.
