SC issues notices to Pervez Elahi, Muhammad Khan Bhatti in illegal recruitment case

Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued notices to former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti in a case related to alleged illegal recruitments and sought a progress report on the trial proceedings from the trial court.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (APP):The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued notices to former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti in a case related to alleged illegal recruitments and sought a progress report on the trial proceedings from the trial court.
The Court also granted interim bail to co-accused Rai Mumtaz and directed the parties to submit their responses at the next hearing.
During the proceedings, the Deputy Prosecutor General Punjab argued that Pervez Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti were misusing the concession of bail. He informed the Court that both accused had failed to appear before the trial court on 18 occasions after obtaining bail, causing delays in the trial.
After hearing the prosecutor’s arguments, the Supreme Court issued notices to Pervez Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti, seeking their replies to the allegations. The Court further directed the trial court to submit an updated report on the status and progress of the case.
