ISLAMABAD, Jun 13 (APP):The Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking disqualification of Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed under Article 62, 63 of the constitution.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and comprising Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah announced the reserved judgment on Wednesday.
“This Civil Appeal Malik Shakeel Awan v. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed etc. is hereby dismissed by a majority of two to one, with Qazi Faez Isa, Justice holding that first the matter be referred to a Bench comprising of the Full Court to decide the questions of law identified and enumerated by him” order read.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Shakeel Awan, who lost the 2013 general election to Rasheed, had filed the petition taking stance that Mr. Sheikh mis-declared his assets in his nomination papers and owned the error as well.
