Saudi-Pakistan date distribution program launched to aid vulnerable communities

ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP): Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), in partnership with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), on Wednesday inaugurated a nationwide Date Distribution Program to support flood-affected and economically disadvantaged families across Pakistan.
The initiative was formally launched by Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliky and PBM Managing Director Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt, reaffirming the deep-rooted ties of Islamic brotherhood and humanitarian cooperation between the two nations.

The ceremony was also attended by KSrelief Directors Abdullah Al-Baqami and Terad Al-Mejel, Director, and PBM’s senior officials. During the ceremony, Director General (Projects) PBM, Prof. Dr. Zeeshan Danish, welcomed the distinguished guests.
Under this project, in collaboration with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, dates will be distributed across all provinces of Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, to flood-affected families and economically disadvantaged individuals to help meet their nutritional needs.
Saudi Envoy Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliky, delivering a speech in Urdu, expressed heartfelt love for the people of Pakistan. He stated that the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is rooted in Islamic brotherhood and mutual respect. He assured full support from the Saudi leadership and government to the people of Pakistan.
Managing Director PBM, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt, expressed his happiness at the presence of the Saudi Ambassador and thanked him for his love and solidarity with the Pakistani people. He acknowledged KSrelief’s impactful global work in the fields of health, education, and food provision, and emphasized the significance of its partnership with PBM in social protection area.

The Managing Director stated that the distribution of ration bags during Holy month of Ramadan and assistance during natural disasters reflect Saudi Arabia’s unparalleled spirit of compassion. He also shed light on the fundamental reforms introduced within the institution, including the promotion of a digital system, making the organization more efficient, effective, vibrant and sustainable.
Senator Captain Shaheen Khalid Butt expressed the hope that in future, the collaboration between KSrelief and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal would grow stronger and set new milestones in improving the lives of the economically vulnerable population.
