ISLAMABAD, Jul 20 (APP):The Saudi Arabia-led Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), in collaboration with the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT), has launched a specialized legal training programme to strengthen efforts against terrorist financing, with participants from Palestine and Chad.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the five-day programme, running from July 19 to 23, was inaugurated at IMCTC headquarters in Riyadh by IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi in the presence of representatives of member states.
SPA told APP that the programme brings together 25 trainees from Palestine and Chad representing law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence units, public prosecution offices and other relevant institutions.
The training aims to enhance participants’ legal, institutional and operational capacities to detect, investigate and prosecute terrorist financing crimes in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
The programme also focuses on strengthening international cooperation through mutual legal assistance, extradition procedures, joint investigations and information sharing to improve the global response to terrorist financing.
The initiative forms part of IMCTC’s broader strategy to build the capacities of its member states across its four strategic pillars: ideological affairs, media, counter-terrorist financing and military cooperation.
