Saudi-led IMCTC joins UN counter-terrorism forum in New York

ISLAMABAD, Jun 30 (APP): A delegation from the Saudi Arabia-led Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) is participating in the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week at UN Headquarters in New York, reaffirming the coalition’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation against terrorism.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the delegation is led by IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi under the directives of Saudi Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers of IMCTC, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The event, organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), brings together member states, security experts and senior UN officials to review the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and discuss emerging global security threats.

SPA told APP that Al-Moghedi said IMCTC’s participation reflects its role as an active international partner working to strengthen cooperation through its four strategic pillars: ideological engagement, strategic communications, counter-terrorist financing and military cooperation.

On the sidelines of the forum, Al-Moghedi held separate meetings with Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr Abdulaziz Alwasil, Acting UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Alexandre Zuev, and Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre Mauro Miedico.

The meetings focused on expanding institutional cooperation, exchanging expertise and enhancing joint efforts to address evolving terrorist threats.

IMCTC continues to work with international partners to build collective capabilities and promote coordinated action against terrorism and violent extremism.
