ISLAMABAD, July 15 (APP): Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz held meetings with the foreign ministers of Norway, New Zealand, France, Hungary, Malta and the State Minister for Defence and Foreign Affairs of Singapore on the sidelines of 11th ASEM Summit being held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
During the meetings, the foreign ministers exchanged bilateral relations as well as views on a number of important regional and international issues, including Afghanistan, Pakistan-India relations, terrorism and the question of Pakistan’s membership of Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), said a message received here Friday.
The discussions also focused on Pakistan-India relations with
special reference to recent events and human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.
In the context of Pakistan’s bilateral relations with these
countries, it was agreed that these would be further strengthened with a view to deepening political ties and opening up new avenues of cooperation in economic realm and other areas.
The foreign ministers appreciated Pakistan’s determined
efforts in tackling the menace of terrorism.
They lauded the remarkable achievements in military operation Zarb-e-Azb and Pakistan’s key role in fighting terrorism.
They also acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in
Quadrilateral Coordination Group to bring about peace and
reconciliation in Afghanistan.
An agreement between Pakistan and Malta on visa waiver for diplomatic and official passport holders was also signed during a bilateral meeting with the Foreign Minister of Malta.
