Sartaj Aziz felicitates Kashmiris on Eid, expresses concern over detention of Kashmiri leaders

ISLAMABAD, July 7 (APP): Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz Thursday expressed deep concern over the detention of Kashmiri leaders on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, in violation of their fundamental right of religious freedom.

“We call upon the international community to take note and urge the
Indian Government to respect the basic rights of Kashmiris in IOK (Indian Occupied Kashmir),” Sartaj Aziz said in a statement issued by Foreign Office here.

The Advisor on Foreign Affairs said, “Muslims are celebrating Eid ul
Fitr across the globe, the most festive of Islamic traditions.”

He said, “The celebration of Eid this year is specially significant
because it is being observed all over the globe on the same day – from Pakistan to the Middle East and Europe to the Americas, and by Kashmiris in Azad Kashmir as well as Indian Occupied Kashmir.”

“On this auspicious occasion, I extend to the Muslim Community all
over the world, including our Kashmiri brothers and sisters and their leadership, my heartiest felicitations,” Sartaj Aziz added.
