Sanjrani for strong institutional linkages between Senate – provincial assemblies

ISLAMABAD, Jan 10 (APP):Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has underscored the need for strong institutional linkages between Senate and the provincial assemblies with a view to highlight the issues being faced by the province in the overall development and growth.During a meeting with Speaker of Balochistan Assembly Abdul Qadoos Bizenjo here on Thursday, he said that Senate has vocally represented the provinces at federal level and has historically played an imminent role in the national integration. He said that in the era of provincial autonomy and decentralization, the Senate has to play more efficient and prominent role to become an effective voice of the federating units.
Sadiq Sanjrani said the leadership of the Upper House is cognizant of the issues being faced by the provinces and especially the province of Balochistan. He further remarked that the Senate has constructively debated issues of Balochistan and the government is placing the growth and development of the province at highest esteem as the road towards Pakistan’s development passes through Balochistan. He called for shunning the traditional approach and act in unison to the feet those forces bent upon hampering the development process.
The Speaker of Balochistan Assembly agreed with the views of Sadiq Sanjrani and emphasized the need for strong linkages between Senate and provincial assembly of Balochistan to take the development process further.
The meeting was also attended by Leader of the House in Senate Senator Shibli Faraz, Senators Ahmad Khan and Sajjad Hussain Turi.
