ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP): National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday met Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and discussed matters of mutual interest, with emphasis on enhancing bilateral cooperation and parliamentary linkages.
During the meeting, the Speaker conveyed heartfelt condolences on the passing of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, affirming that Pakistan joins Bangladesh in mourning her loss.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the improving relations between the two countries. Sadiq underscored the importance of strengthening parliamentary contacts and proposed the establishment of Pakistan–Bangladesh friendship groups in the legislatures of both nations.

He noted that visits by senior delegations had opened new avenues of collaboration, adding that there were strong opportunities for cooperation across various sectors.
Dr Yunus, for his part, said Pakistan should be considered a “second home” and stressed that high-level engagement would further consolidate bilateral ties. He thanked the government and people of Pakistan for joining the funeral prayers of Khaleda Zia and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s resolve to foster close cooperation with Pakistan in parliamentary affairs and other fields.

The Chief Adviser also lauded Pakistan’s role in advancing peace and security in the region, describing it as highly valued.
He conveyed his good wishes for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and reiterated that Bangladesh attaches exceptional importance to its relations with Pakistan.
