SADEQUAIN Foundation, IMARAT commemorate Sadequain’s 39th death anniversary

ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (APP): SADEQUAIN Foundation, in collaboration with IMARAT and Gallery 21, solemnly commemorated the 39th death anniversary of legendary artist Sadequain on Tuesday.
The event was inaugurated by fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY), CEO of IMARAT Shafiq Akbar, CEO of Gallery 21 Dr. Farrukh Seir, and Zohaib Chaudhary, representative of the SADEQUAIN Foundation.
A major highlight of the commemoration was the screening of the groundbreaking documentary Raaz-e-Fun. The film compellingly explored Sadequain’s profound impact on the artistic and intellectual landscape of Pakistan and beyond, shedding light on his philosophy, creative struggles, and revolutionary contributions to modern art. The documentary was met with rapt attention and heartfelt appreciation from the audience.
SADEQUAIN Foundation also showcased a significant selection of its scholarly and archival publications produced in the United States and Pakistan. These works reflect the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to documentation, research, and preservation, and underscore its role as the foremost custodian of Sadequain’s artistic and intellectual heritage.
Sadequain was a rare polymath—a master painter, an innovative calligrapher, and a poet of exceptional depth. During his lifetime, he achieved recognition across all five continents, earning international acclaim and numerous institutional honors. More than an artist, he became the cultural face of Pakistan to the world, embodying creative courage, intellectual defiance, and artistic excellence.
The event was attended by a distinguished and diverse gathering, including diplomats, senior bureaucrats, scholars, writers, artists, educators, and students.
The 39th anniversary commemoration concluded with renewed calls for preservation, education, and institutional responsibility, echoing Sadequain’s lifelong commitment to artistic integrity and intellectual freedom.
The evening stood as a powerful tribute to one of Pakistan’s most celebrated and internationally recognized cultural icons.
A rich and multifaceted homage was paid to Sadequain’s towering artistic legacy through an impressive exhibition featuring reproductions of his majestic murals, a curated selection of representative paintings, and his deeply inspirational calligraphic works.
