ISLAMABAD, Jan 18 (APP): Renowned Pakistani writer, playwright and author Saadat Hasan Manto was remembered on his 71st death anniversary on Sunday (January 18) with media paying tribute to his lifelong contributions to the literary world.

Saadat Hasan Manto was born on 11th May 1912 in Ludhiana, British India. Celebrated for his fearless storytelling, he wrote short stories, novels, radio plays, essays and sketches that captured the raw realities of human life with honesty, empathy and sharp social insight.
His works, including Toba Tek Singh and Thanda Gosht, remain powerful examples of his ability to portray the marginalized and challenge societal norms.
Manto passed away on 18th January 1955 in Lahore, but his legacy endures. The Government of Pakistan commemorated him with a postage stamp in 2005 and posthumously awarded him the Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 2012, honoring his bold contributions to literature.
